- Use a paddle brush instead of a comb to comb through the hair from the end of the hair to the scalp.
- Hair extensions should be washed and conditioned weekly or at least biweekly.
- Comb through with the conditioner, leave it for 5-10 minutes and then wash out the conditioner. Then let air dry.
- Instead of using a towel to remove excess water use an old cotton t-shirt to prevent frizz.
5. Avoid using heat excessively to prevent heat damage.
- If you need to straighten your hair you may use a lightweight serum on it but make sure to use a heat protectant on your hair.
- At night, sleep with a satin bonnet or on a silk pillowcase to maintain the hair.
- Products do matter! Use a conditioner and shampoo that does not contain alcohol, parabens, or sulfates. We noticed that tresemme, VO5, and pantene products make the hair feel harsh. We personally use Mixed Chicks or OGX Organix products.
- If you hair has been straightened and you would like to have the hair in its natural state, please wash and condition the hair to reset it.
Closure/Frontal Care
Our closures and frontals are now premium quality. Premium quality refers to the durability of the closure and hair used to make the closure. Due to the delicate nature of the closure, special care needs to be taken to extend the life of your closure. Closures do not last as long as bundles which are double wefted for security. Closures are single, hand tied onto the lace.
Improper care such as excessive scratching, vigorous washing or rough handling can cause balding and shorten the use of the closure. Closures
usually last 3-6 months with proper care. The closure’s longevity depends on the type of care used to preserve it. The following steps should be taken to care for your lace closure. Before installation
- Avoid bleaching knots, instead use foundation or concealer to match your skin tone. Bleaching weakens the hair follicles on the closure. Since closures are single, hand tied strands, strands can easily escape the closure.
After installation:
- Use a satin bonnet or silk scarf to protect the lace closure during sleep. You may also sleep on a satin or silk pillow as well.
- Gently comb closure. Use a paddle brush combing the ends of the hair to the tip of the closures.
- Washing- avoid scrubbing the closure. Scrubbing will loosen hairs and cause unnecessary shedding.
- Avoid scratching closure. Scratching will loosen the hairs on the closure causing it to shed.
